Dear Friends,
I wish that all news could be good news... There are so many bright moments, when animals that would otherwise be destroyed can find sanctuary in a safe and caring home like our Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. Unfortunately, today I bring some saddening news.
This past Sunday, Black Bear Fisher was gently euthanized. A resident since 1995, Fisher became an ambassador for the zoo and was loved by visitors and staff alike. We will miss his antics and his caring ways. We invite you to share your stories and memories of Fisher and learn a little bit more about our great friend. Visit Fisher's Page on the Friends website.
We also need your help as the City continues to wrestle with an ever challenging budget crisis. Last year city budget issues dramatically reduced the budget, staff and educational programs offered at the zoo. Please help to prevent the loss and degradation of what we have worked so hard to build for ourselves and the generations to come. Please show your support by attending the Folsom City Council budget workshop and meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th at 4:00pm and 6:30pm respectively at the Folsom City Hall, 50 Natoma St. in Folsom.
Thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warmest Regards,
Jeff Boone, President Friends of the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary information@folsomzoofriends.org
